Maths Methods Workshop at W5

Click to enlargeOn the 14th of April, 10A1 and 10A2 went on a Maths trip to W5 in their Maths Workshop. We travelled by bus up the M2 to Belfast. Once we got there both classes were split into two groups. Click to enlargeOne group went to the Maths Workshop straight away and the other went around W5 and explored some of the many different activities there is to see and do such as play invisible instruments, pulley chairs and testing your heart beat and pulse which was all very amusing.

Click to enlargeWe then went for lunch and the two groups switched places. The Maths Workshop was very entertaining and was really challenging you were put into groups of three or four were you had to work as a team figuring out sums and using your head, some of the Click to enlargequestions were quite tricky but we got some help from our teacher. I liked the final part of our session in the workshop were you had to create a game in which you had to add resources which cost tokens that you had to won from answering maths questions correctly.

Click to enlargeI thought the optical illusion demonstration that we also saw was a very educational experience because I learned different things such as how films and cartoons are seen and we discussed double vision.

Click to enlargeI really enjoyed the day and thought it was very interesting. I especially enjoyed being in the Maths Workshop and working with others.
