7th January: Secondary Schools' Championship Gala

Ulster Branch, Irish Schools' Swimming Association held their Secondary Schools' Championship Gala at the Seven Towers Leisure Centre on Friday 6th and Saturday 7th January 2012. Cullybackey High School pupils Rachael Lennox and Katie Morrow both competed in the Saturday gala.

Rachael was first to swim in the 100m Backstroke achieving a time of 1.31.72 followed by 100m Freestyle in 1.24.73 both personal best times for Rachael. Both great swims for Rachael, particularly showing great style in her backstroke. Rachael also shares the position of Girls Captain for the Aquasprints team at Ballymena Swimming Club. This entails representing the club and supporting her fellow team members at the many home and away galas. A position which is well respected by the many members of Ballymena Swimming Club, well done Rachael.

Katie also swam in the 100m Freestyle in a time of 1.18.37, again a well performed front crawl. Also great news that Katie has been invited to train with the Swim Ulster Academy, first training session in Dublin 29th January 2012.

Well done again to both girls, can't have been easy after the long Christmas holiday and one too many turkey dinners. Keep up the great swimming and good work!
