STEM Event - Royal Navy 2012
On Monday 16th January, 10A1 and 10A2 took part in a STEM event run by the Royal Navy.
Pupils where exposed to many different scenarios that Royal Navy personnel come across everyday. They were then shown how Science, Maths and Technology being taught in the school can be used in these different situations.
All the students got to try and make a turbine engine more efficient in order to make a battle ship travel greater distances. They worked out how much fuel a helicopter needs to fly from point A to point B and finally how Morse code can be used to communicate information.
All the students enjoyed this experience and have taken a lot from this event.
