NI Book Awards

Never mind the MTV Awards …
Cullybackey High School does the Launch of the NI Book Awards.

Along with other schools across Northern Ireland, pupils from Cullybackey High School were invited to the Launch of the NI Book Awards on Wednesday, 16th December at RBAI (Inst) in Belfast.

Tia McCombe, Erin Herbison and James Neilly travelled with Mrs Smyth and Mrs Hayes to the event, which was held in the Library of Inst. The guest speaker was author and illustrator, Oisin McGann, who related wildly entertaining stories and gave us all something to think about.

The short listed books are now available to borrow in the school library and were revealed as:

Sektion 20 by Paul Dowswell
Far Rockaway by Charlie Fletcher
One Dog and his Boy by Eva Ibbotson
Run, Rabbit Run by Margaret Mitchelhill
The Phoenix Files: Arrival by Chris Morphew
Unleashed: A life and death job by Ali Sparkes
Gangsta Granny by David Walliams
The Ministry of Pandemonium by Chris Westwood

This local book award scheme is child centred, with pupils not only nominating the books they want to read, but also voting for the title they think deserves to win 'Best Book'.
