Indoor Athletics
Well done to Lauren McGall, Hannah McCleister, Jason Selfridge, David Woods, Alana Duff and Matthew Kirk (reserve) who have been selected for their relevant Co Antrim Indoor Athletic Squads. They will now compete in the Ulster Indoor Athletics Tournament on the 8th of March.![]()
Ski Trip 2013 - places available!!
There are still places available for the 2013 Ski Trip (2nd - 9th March) to Alp d'Huez in France. Open to current Year 8-11 pupils. Total cost - £800. This includes flights, accommodation, food, lessons, boots and poles. See Mrs Robinson for more details.

STEM Event - Royal Navy
On Monday 16th January, 10A1 and 10A2 took part in a STEM event run by the Royal Navy. Pupils where exposed to many different scenarios that Royal Navy personnel come across everyday.
Poetry In Motion
9A3 took part in a Performance Poetry workshop with visiting poet Chelley McLear. Their final workshop will be held in the school library on Thursday 9th February when a recording team from the Community Arts Partnership will be in school to record their performance.![]()
Accelerated Reading
Well done to 9A5 who recently received their "Ready Reader Awards" as part of the Renaissance Learning Accelerated Reading scheme. All Key Stage 3 pupils participate in this program which promotes reading for pleasure.![]()
Swimming: Secondary Schools' Championship Gala
Ulster Branch, Irish Schools' Swimming Association held their Secondary Schools' Championship Gala at the Seven Towers Leisure Centre on Friday 6th and Saturday 7th January 2012. Cullybackey High School pupils Rachael Lennox and Katie Morrow both competed in the Saturday gala.![]()
U15 Football
The Under 15 Football team got off to a flying start in this year's Coleraine and District Schools' Football League. We beat Dunluce 9 – 0 at Ballymena Showgrounds on Tuesday 17th Jan. Scorers: Dale Mitchell (3), Ryan Kennedy (3), Kyle Crawford, David Woods and Jason Johnston.

Christmas Hamper Raffle
Well done to Jackson Taylor who won the Christmas Hamper and many thanks to all who contributed - over £200 was raised. This will be divided between the Northern Ireland Hospice and the Northern Ireland Cancer Fund for Children.
GCSE History - Stormont
Year 11 GCSE History pupils visited Stormont on Thursday 15th December 2011. They had the opportunity to gain a unique insight into the history of Parliament Buildings since the opening in 1932, through World War II, the Troubles and to the modern day.![]()
School Choir - Festive Season Performances
Another busy festive season for the Music Department saw the choir perform for a wide range of audiences. These included nursing homes, local supermarkets and Radio Cracker. Well done to all involved. Photos and more information available in the Music section.
Under 12 Football - McKinney Cup Final
After an excellent first season the Under 12s played against Limavady High School in the McKinney Cup Final on Friday 6th December.
After a close game they lost 4-2 on penalties. Visit the U12 page for the match report and results from the past season.
Netball
Well done to the Year 9 team who defeated Ballymena Academy on Tuesday 29th November. The girls played exceptionally well, leading 12-4 at half time. After a great second half the final score ended up 21-5. More details available in the Extra Curricular section.

What fun we had performing in front of the CBBC cameras! The Music Department was buzzing with excitement after a phone call from the producers of CBBC inviting entries from our school for the "CBBC Sport Relief does Glee Club" auditions in November.![]()

Katie Morrow - Swimming Success
Cullybackey High School pupil Katie Morrow had a great weekend at Lisburn Leisure Centre competing in the Halloween Qualifying Meet held on the 11-13th November. Katie also had the great privilege to be asked to compete as part of Larne Swimming Club.![]()
Ulster Schools' Show Jumping
The Show Jumping team finished up 10th out of 19 in the Ulster Schools’ Show jumping League on Saturday 19th November. The team consisted of Laura Gordon, Jamie Boyd and Stuart Gillespie. In the individual class Hannah Thompson finished 10th out of 39.![]()
AS Geography Field Trip
On Monday 7th November we went to Magilligan Field Centre to conduct a study of the Umbra Sand Dunes. To do this we worked in a group of four, we took soil samples to measure pH levels, amount of soil moisture and organic content.![]()
Distribution of Certificates and Prizes 2011

Pamela McBurney - 3rd Place in GCSE Hospitality
We were delighted to hear of the success of Pamela McBurney in her GCSE Hospitality Examination. Pamela was placed third in all of Northern Ireland in this examination. She is continuing her studies at the school, following courses in Health & Social Studies and Home Economics.A Level Exam Success
Sixth form students from Cullybackey High School received their A2/AS results with a sense of excitement and anticipation. Staff and pupils were delighted with the quality of the grades received. 96% and 97% of entries achieved grades at A* to E in AS and A2 level respectively.GCSE Exam Success
Cullybackey High School is pleased with the results at GCSE level. There were a number of excellent individual performances, the best of which was that of Jessica McCombe (6A* and 3A grades). Congratulations to all pupils who worked hard over the past two years!![]()
