Army Day 2010
On the 14th of June we headed off to Ballykinler in Co. Down to an army base where we did a real, 20 obstacle, army assault course, ate with the army, wore army overalls and boots. We also shot a real shotgun and did command posts.
When we got there we had to get changed into green or black overalls with boots. A cup with knife and forks and a water canister were provided.
When we had changed we did a 20 obstacle assault course with climbs and crawls and lots of challenging stuff. When we had all finished we got back on the bus and went back for some food and the choice was vast - they had chips and stew and pasties and sausages and the options went on.
Afterwards we got back on the bus and went up the hill to the shooting range were we shot clay pigeons with live fire and after we had done that we did command points like get supplies out of a fake mine field and lots more. It was definitely worth the wait and the money to go there.
