Alton Towers
Year 10 had an opportunity this year to go to Alton Towers. Mr Millar (Head of Year), Mrs Thompson, Mrs Roulston and Mr Boyd were the four lucky teachers that came along.
We travelled with Norfolkline overnight. We met on Monday night at Norfolkline at 8pm and got on the boat. We got our cabins sorted out and then we headed for dinner after which we got to walk around the boat and chill out. At about 11pm we all went to our cabins. They were lovely and were very clean. We had 2 bunk beds and a shower etc. We got up at 5am in the morning, got breakfast, got bags, got off the boat and headed for the bus.
We then travelled for 45 mins and stopped in at a café for 50 mins to get some air and then headed to Alton Towers which took another hour.
We arrived at 10am, split up into groups and went on loads of very exciting and adventurous rides. There were also cafés and gift shops everywhere. Best bit - there was a Ben and Jerry's shop! There was also a chocolate fountain full of milk and white chocolate! Yummy!
But the rides were the best bit. There were so many of them and so little time to queue for them all, yet we were there for 7 hours. I could not choose my favourite but I loved the Flume (it came in handy when you were roasting!) and Nemesis. The new ride Th13teen was good. But the only thing was the queues for all the rides were unbelievably long. I queued for 50 mins to get on Nemesis but it was completely worth it.
It was a brilliant day and everyone got some sun. We all met at 5pm and got the bus again. I think the journey home was a bit quieter than the bus coming - most of us slept all the way to the boat.
When we got to the boat there were more passengers than there was going because there were 2 big fish and a giant monkey coming home!
We got on the boat at 8.30pm and had dinner. After dinner most of us just chilled out after a long day. Some watched TV, some played games and some sat out on the deck. We all headed to bed at 11pm and I would say we all got more sleep then we got the night before. Next morning we were woken up at 5am and had breakfast as we were approaching home!
Now that's what I called a brilliant school trip! I would definitely go back.
